Product Description

This Manual supports the design of structures to the Eurocodes on Basis of Structural Design (BS EN 1990: 2002) and Part 1 of Eurocode 1 (BS EN 1991-1-1:2002, BS EN 1991-1-2: 2002, BS EN 1991-1-3: 2003, BS EN 1991-1-4: 2005, BS EN 1991-1-5: 2003, BS EN 1991-1-6: 2005 and BS EN 1991-1-7: 2006) for construction in the UK.
The Chapter on Basis of Structural Design explains the principles of limit states design and combinations of actions and gives examples of how these should be applied. The following Chapters deal with densities, self-weight and imposed loads, actions on structures exposed to fire, snow loads, wind loads, thermal actions, actions during execution and accidental actions. Nationally Determined Parameters from the UK National Annexes have been taken into account in the formulae that are presented.
The range of structures and structural elements covered by the Manual is limited to building structures (other than agricultural buildings) that are in consequence classes CC1, CC2a and CC2b as listed in BS EN 1991-1-7: 2006. The guidance given in the Manual may also be applicable for determining some actions and their effects for structures in consequence class CC3.
This Manual is part of a suite of manuals for the Eurocodes
