The Pai Lin Li Travel Grant lecture, which took place on 18 October 2018, features two presentations:

Designing for change: a new approach to residential construction

James Lomas used his Pai Lin Li Travel Grant to travel to Netherlands, Japan and Malaysia to investigate flexible approaches to housing stock design, in order to develop lessons for the UK - where 91% of domestic stock is of inflexible masonry design.

and

Designing bridges for manufacture and assembly: innovative joining technologies of precast concrete elements

Charlotte Murphy used her Pai Lin Li Travel Grant to travel to the USA to investigate the Federal Highways Commission's techniques for joining precast concrete elements as part of its accelerated bridge construction programme.
