Choose the right studies
If you’re studying in the UK we recommend that you take mathematics and physics (A levels or Scottish Highers). For your other studies you can choose anything you like - from art to geography. You can also apply for a civil/structural engineering degree with a level 3 BTEC.
Ask an engineer to visit your school
Email your local IStructE Regional Group - they may have a member available to visit your school and give a talk - there is nothing as inspiring as meeting an engineer in person.
This annual event is an amazing opportunity for anyone aged aged 7-19 to meet engineers, take on fun challenges, and discover careers in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) in the UK.
