An apprenticeship lets you study to become a structural engineer while you work.

If university isn’t right for you, consider an apprenticeship. As an apprentice you develop practical skills, work alongside experienced structural engineers, earn a wage and get time specially allocated to study.

Apprenticeships normally take between one and five years to complete.

Often an apprenticeship involves taking BTECs, Diplomas, NVQs, HNCs and HNDs or other work-related qualifications.

Engineers who start their careers with an apprenticeship can become professionally qualified with IStructE through our Technician Membership.
