A CPD Course on Fire Engineering led by Jenny Burridge of The Concrete Centre and Roger Plank of Sheffield University. The Course is intended for structural engineers seeking to expand their understanding of and skills in tackling design for structures in fire conditions.
The Aim of the Course
The principles of fire engineering, the behaviour and design of common structural materials and members, and how real structures perform in fire.
11:15 Steel & Timber
13:15 Advanced Methods
14:30 Concrete Structures
16:00 Questions & Close
The entry criteria
Some exposure to design for fire and knowledge of terminology would be of benefit.
Jenny Burridge, MIStructE
Head of Structural Engineering, The Concrete Centre
Jenny is the UK representative on the CEN task group looking at revisions to the fire part of Eurocode 2.
Professor Roger Plank, FIStructE
Roger recently retired as Professor of Structural Engineering/Architecture at the University of Sheffield, where he established an internationally renowned research group studying the behaviour of building structures in fire.
Contracts are used throughout the construction industry on a daily basis. Understanding the law which regulates contracts is therefore very important.
We will build upon the knowledge gained in session one. This session will focus on construction industry specific matters.
An online lecture about high rise timber buildings by Dr Solomon Tesfarmariam.
The eighth International Conference on Structural Engineering, Mechanics and Computation (SEMC 2022) will be held in Cape Town from 5 to 7 September 2022.
Martin Ashmead will talk about historic long span precast concrete roof shells and their relevance to the 21st Century. Each aspect of the system will be explained in such a manner as to be understood by all attendees, irrespective of age or discipline, including non-technical people.
A technical lecture on Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete.
A part-time evening course to prepare candidates for the CM examination of The Institution of Structural Engineers is to be held in the North Thames Regional Group area starting 21 September 2022.
Lancashire & Cheshire Annual Dinner and North West Structural Engineering Awards 2022.
The President, Jane Entwistle, will be attending the inaugural Scottish Structural Awards 2022 at Drygate Brewery.
