The Structural Engineer, Volume 83, Issue 8, 2005
The cable-stayed Safti Bridge with an independent and inclined pylon is a state-of-the-art bridge that has been designed and built for the first time in the world. This paper describes the various aspects of the design process for the bridge, including terrain, aesthetics, geotechnical and structural considerations. It also gives a detail description on the three-dimensional design technique adopted for the bridge. Summarised results from the design analyses are also presented, together with a brief write-up on the design criteria and how the bridge was constructed. S. C. Tan H. S. Teh T. Y.
