About the speakers

Michelle McDowell
Michelle is a principal of BDP and leads their civil and structural engineering group across the practice. Her approach is based on the conviction that architects and engineers thinking together from the start of a project will produce better building design.

Simon Pitchers
Simon is a founder and now consultant with the 60-strong mainstream civil and structural engineering consultancy, Craddys. He’s also a director of Arc Bauen, construction managers who build supermarkets and is a member of the Industry Response Group, Working Group 9, site supervisors responding to Dame Judith Hackitt’s review after Grenfell. The following presentation is his personal view.

Margaret Cooke
Margaret is a Conservation Accredited Engineer. She brings her wide knowledge of historic construction techniques to the start of any project and her interest in sustainable design, old and new, is supported by her experience of using traditional low energy materials.
