Data-driven design approaches webinar series - part 2 of 3, and it explores how AI is helping to predict asset performance.

Our expert panel from London Structures Lab and BKWai explained what asset monitoring sensors are available at the moment, how the data needs to be processed to identify residual trends and what opportunities are available to engineers in the future. Through current research and real-time case studies, they also discussed the range of sensing systems available and the circumstances that they can be utilised.

The session identified how engineers can help to justify the pay-back to clients on their investments and provide a thought-provoking insight into what the future of monitoring systems could hold.

Reasons to watch

  • Learn how the data is typically post-processed

  • Learn how AI is helping to predict asset performance

  • Understand the value of the data to engineers and clients

Speakers

Arthur Coates graduated from the University of Oxford in 2013 and worked for Price & Myers for eight years on projects across the UK. During that time, he developed an interest in structural sustainability and established an internal Climate Action Group to help tackle the climate emergency agenda. He moved to London Structures Lab in 2021 to pursue his interests in tackling embodied carbon and advancing the use performance based design in the reuse of buildings.

Jon Leach leads AECOM’s Structural Engineering Technical Practice Group in the UK and Europe. He is also AECOM’s Sport and Entertainment sector lead, and his London-based team specialises in stadia and long span roof design. Recent key projects include Hong Kong International Airport Terminal 2 and Third Runway Concourse, the Curragh Racecourse, and major venues for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He moved to London Structures Lab in 2021 to pursue his interests in tackling embodied carbon and advancing the use performance based design in the reuse of buildings.
