This webinar explores the standard approaches for the design and management of tall buildings.

The speakers of this webinar discuss the key findings for structural engineers revealed by their experience, extensive research and engagement with an array of stakeholders involved in the design and management of tall buildings.

They are both integral members of an ASCE task group that delivered the recent MOP 143. This offers detailed guidance on industry standard practices and approaches for the design and performance of tall buildings for wind.

Learning outcomes

  • Guidance on modelling building’s structural properties such as stiffness and damping

  • How to model uncertainties in wind climate, wind loading, and other effects

Intended for

Structural engineers of any level and also architects, wind engineers, and developers.

Speakers

John Peronto - FIstructE Senior Principal, Thornton Tomasetti
John has led the design of many tall-to-megatall buildings, as well as unique and iconic structures around the world. He is highly published and a leader in professional organizations such as ASCE, ACI, IStructE, ICE, CTBUH, CCHRB, and has served as the chair for the Tall Buildings Committee of SEI since 2016.

Preetam Biswas - Director of Structural Engineering, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM)
Preetam has led the design of multiple tall buildings, airports, stadiums, and convention centers around the globe. He has authored many technical papers focusing on tall buildings and other structural system innovations and served as the chair for the task committee that authored this Manual of Practice.
