The Young Researchers Conference is returning for its 26th year in 2024. This event will feature the best projects from PhD students in structural engineering, so apply today for your opportunity to showcase your research to other researchers, early engineers, academics, and industry professionals.
The 2024 Young Researchers Conference will take place online on 2 May 2024
Who is it for?
Researchers in academia or industry with fewer than five years' research experience, such as PhD students (from second year on) or researchers with up to one year of post-doctoral experience.
- If you are currently engaged in research and will have more than one and less than five years research experience at the date of the conference. This means that eligible presenters will normally be 2nd, 3rd or 4th year PhD students or 1st year post-doctoral researchers.
- Postgraduate researchers who are not registered for a PhD are still eligible to present their work if they have between one and five years research experience at the date of the conference.
- Researchers based in industry are welcome to apply if their research has the potential for impact outside of the applicant's own company with potential benefit to the wider structural engineering profession.
- Applicants are usually expected to be under 35 years of age.
If successful, you will either be selected to give an oral presentation on the afternoon of the conference, or to present a poster of your research.
Those who have already given an oral presentation at a previous IStructE Young Researchers Conference are no longer eligible to present their research at this conference.
Those who have previously given a poster presentation at the IStructE Young Researchers Conference may apply to deliver an oral presentation as they will be ineligible for a poster presentation.
