The President represents the Institution's membership externally and chairs the Council. We normally elect a new President each year. They are drawn from Fellows of the Institution in industry or academia.
The Board, whose members are the Institution's Trustees, works to define and develop Institution strategy and policy.
Council debates topics relating to the profession and provides high level guidance to the Board to inform our strategy.
Our Committees and Panels develop guidance, events and resources for members in line with the objectives defined by the Board.
Our Study Groups encourage debate about a wide variety of structural engineering topics.
Our Regional Groups arrange educational activities, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities and networking events for members at a local level.
All members of our Board, Council, Committees, Panels, Study and Regional Groups are volunteers.
