Establish that you have the right academic foundation. For Technician Membership you'll need either:
- An approved qualification set at level 3 in the Qualifications and Credit Framework for England, Northern Ireland or Wales; or at level 6 in Scotland; or the equivalent.
- An Advanced/Modern Apprenticeship or equivalent
Satisfy the Initial Professional Development (IPD) requirements, completing an IPD Final Report Form for each of the Technician Core Objectives.
If you are applying via the Mutual Recognition Agreement route with the Institution of Civil Engineers, you will only need to supply the IPD Final Report Forms and Portfolio for Core Objectives 2.1, 2.2 and 2.4.
Create a portfolio of work to support your IPD statements and a two page experience report form/CV.
