Steps to Chartered Membership

 

First step

Establish that you have the right academic foundation.

Second step

Decide your route to membership: Most of our Chartered Members progress as Graduate Members undertaking Initial Professional Development - but you can also qualify via other routes to membership or by sitting a supplementary exam.

Final step

Pass our Professional Review: An exam and interview which together form one of the most demanding assessments of knowledge and professional competence in the world.

Your application:
  • Expression of interest: £115

  • Professional Review interview: £195

  • Exam: £495

  • Late application: £200

 

Engineering Council fees (optional):
  • Registration for CEng £59.70

  • CEng (if already CEng registered): £45.91

 

Other fee information:

If you apply during the year you may be eligible for pro-rata deductions. 

Your fees may also be reduced if you:

  • have an annual income of less than £17000

  • are in retirement

  • are eligible for joint membership reductions
