Lindsay is interim CEO for the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership (CISL), a globally recognised institute that activates leadership to transform world economies for people, nature and climate. She brings more than 20 years’ experience at the forefront of business and sustainability; challenging, inspiring and supporting senior leaders from multinational businesses, financial institutions and influential organisations to accelerate progress to a sustainable economy.

Lindsay has a proven track-record of leading significant growth, innovation and impact through building the vision, strategy, structures and capabilities necessary to deliver against organisational purpose. She has played a foundational role driving transformative change, supporting CISL’s evolution into the respected international institute it is today. And she will, no doubt, take it to even greater heights at a time when the world needs systems-level change more than ever.

Jane is a leading expert on embodied carbon and Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) in the construction sector.  She is involved in sustainable construction standardisation efforts at product and building level internationally for the UK. She has recently completed a PhD considering the role of EPD in embodied carbon reduction. She was part of the authorship team for the recently released second edition of the RICS 'Whole life carbon assessment for the built environment', providing input into consistency, compliance, general guidance and had a principal role in editing the document.

Co-chair, SEI Sustainability Committee (United States)
Jay is trained as an architectural engineer and worked as a structural designer prior to completing his PhD investigating the carbon storage potential of materials and buildings. Currently, Jay is an Assistant Teaching Professor in Architectural Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder with a teaching focus on embodied carbon and sustainable building design. In his role as a co-founder of a software startup, Preoptima, Jay leads the product development to bring carbon to the center of the design process. He is also a co-chair of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) Sustainability Committee and has been leading the development of an SEI Prestandard for assessing the embodied carbon of structural systems.

Duncan Baker-Brown
Duncan Baker-Brown
Founder, BakerBrown (UK)
Duncan is an architect, academic, and environmental activist. As the author of ‘The Re-Use Atlas: a designer’s guide towards a circular economy,’ he has over 25 years of experience in sustainable development and closed-loop systems. His second edition is due by RIBA in July 2024. He founded BakerBrown, an architectural practice addressing the challenges of the climate crisis and post-COVID design. His work has garnered multiple RIBA National Awards and a special Stephen Lawrence Prize for the Brighton Waste House, which funded a student prize at the University of Brighton for circular design.
 
At the University of Brighton, Duncan leads the NW Europe INTERREG FCRBE project and co-edited ‘The Pedagogies of Re-Use,’ a book on educational strategies for sustainability, to be published by Routledge in June 2024, with Prof. Graeme Brooker.

Associate Director, Webb Yates Engineers (UK)
Alex is an experienced Structural Engineer with specialist knowledge of stone design as well as other non-standard materials. With over 10 years’ experience at Webb Yates Engineers, working on complex projects ranging from award-winning, gravity-defying staircases to multi-million pound retrofits, Alex is able to produce structural designs that champion both beautiful architecture and low carbon design. He won the IStructE Young Structural Engineer award in 2015 and the IABSE Nethercot Prize in 2022 for a paper on Shading Structures for the Dubai Expo and now runs the Webb Yates internal climate-focused group, the Planeteers. He is currently leading the design of an £80 million multidisciplinary project that utilises load-bearing stone, mass timber and other more typical materials in innovative and creative ways.

Cycle Assessment Consultant, One Click LCA (UK)
Leo is a Life Cycle Assessment Consultant at One Click LCA. A passionate advocate of sustainability, Leo has a deep understanding of whole life and embodied carbon having worked for eTool Global and Introba (formerly known as Elementa), where he gained invaluable experience in the practice of Whole Life Carbon, development and delivery of training material. As an LCA Consultant, Leo is responsible for conducting and certifying whole building LCAs. He also conducts research and development in the field of LCA. 
 
Additionally, Leo is actively involved in standardizing the industry's approach to carbon assessment on both regional and European scales. This includes his participation in the UKGBC task group and CNCA.
 
Leo has also supported the development of CIBSE TM65 guidance and has hosted CPD sessions on this topic as an accredited trainer for CIBSE. Additionally, he has created training material on Embodied Carbon and Life Cycle Assessment for the GBC and BSRIA, to disseminate and advance LCA methodology.

Natasha Watson - session Chair
UK Embodied Carbon Lead for Structures, Buro Happold (UK)
Natasha is the UK Embodied Carbon Lead for Structures, and her goal is to develop and deliver our advisory and consultancy service in the area of Embodied Carbon over and above Buro Happold’s own dedication to reducing embodied carbon as a company. This also includes upskilling her colleagues in their understanding of embodied carbon, primarily in its measurement and reduction.  She also works as a Structural Designer and Structural Job Leader, and so understand the day-to-day difficulties of being a structural engineer navigating the Climate Emergency.
 
As well as the technical aspects of tackling the climate emergency, she is interested in the wider issues around equity and unconscious bias in the built environment, as well as intersectional environmentalism.
