This half-day course is for engineers working with domestic and smaller commercial clients. It covers specific contractual and legal issues that practitioners may encounter, and outlines common legal mistakes that can be avoided.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course, attendees should be able to:

  • Agree and record clear, enforceable agreements with non-professional clients

  • Recognise the ‘consumer protection’ background

  • Recognise and avoid misunderstandings around fees and variations, delays, and your own and the contractor’s responsibility

  • Respond to complaints correctly

  • Communicate effectively and get paid more easily

Intended for

  • Senior engineer/Team leader/Manager

  • Business leader/Director (including SMEs)

Please note that these Practical law courses stand alone, and it's not necessary to take them in numerical order.
