The CHAIRMAN (Sir George W. Humphreys, K.S.E., Past President, .Inst. C.E., and President of the British Section of the Societe) said it was a privilege to meet to hear a paper by a distinguished French engineer, M. Freyssinet, upon a subject with which his name had become identified in the minds not only of his compatriots but also of engineers in all parts of the globe.

Mr. W. C. COCKING (Member of Council) proposed a vote of thanks to Mr. Chettoe for the paper and said that all members present must have enjoyed, as he had, the opportunity of listening to a paper so full of practical engineering. He was sure also that very many of those present must have envied Mr. Chettoe the opportunities he had had of carrying out such interesting work as that described in the paper.
