Mr. GOWER B.R. PIMM, (Past President), proposing the hearty thanks of the Institution to Mr. Fitzmaurice, which duty afforded him real pleasure, said that those who had had the privilege of meeting him on the Codes of Practice Committee had expected a great treat when he presented his paper; and he had not disappointed them. The large attendance at the meeting was a tribute to him.

The Waterloo Temporary Bridge was constructed by Sir William Arrol and Co., Ltd., subsequent to the discovery in 1923 of serious weakness in the foundations of the Old Bridge. The construction was commenced in August 1924 and completed in August 1925. H.P.T. Lind, P.R. Alderman and J.J. Wilmers
