Following the publication in 1964 of the Joint Committee report Fully-rigid Multi-storey Welded Steel Frames, an experimental investigation was instituted aimed at establishing the accuracy of the simplified design method proposed therein. The results of these tests were presented in a paper in The Structural Engineer. R.F. Smith and E.H. Roberts
