Fuller’s construction, published in 1875, has been advocated since then us a method of analysing the stability of masonry arches. This paper highlights a weakness in the original method which does not appear to have been appreciated by other authors and which restricts its validity considerably. A technique is presented for making the method universally applicable. Professor A. Jennings
When I sat the Institution examination 25 years ago, I concentrated on the matter in hand and did not reflect on the future: to add corporate membership of such a distinguished Institution to one's credentials was sufficient objective in itself. It is therefore a memorable occasion for me to take up the duties of President on the Silver Jubilee of my becoming a corporate member.
