This paper describes the design and construction of Breydon Bridge, a nine-span viaduct, 247m-long, over Breydon Water on the outskirts of Great Yarmouth, Norfolk (Fig I). The viaduct forms part of the A47 Trunk Road Great Yarmouth western bypass and has been constructed on the line of the old Midland and Great Northern Railway Company’s railway between Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft.
